Research Computing Group

The Research Computing Group (RCG) builds on Saint Louis University's ambition to develop and improve computing infrastructure, technology, services and support for research.

It is the result of a collaboration between the Office of the Vice President for Research and Information Technology Services. The group offers an array of research computing services to SLU's faculty and students.

The RCG is located in DuBourg Hall, Room 443, and will soon have similar space on South Campus.

The group is led by David Gohara, Ph.D., adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and director of research computing. If you have any current or anticipated computing needs related to your research, please contact him at  

Services & Resources

The following research technology services are  available for SLU faculty and students. If you need support with our research technology resources or would like access to the below technologies, please contact Annamaria Szakonyi at or call 314-977-3987.

Eating Disorder Recovery Registry: A web-based community administered by a psychology faculty and managed by SLU ITS to conduct research and promote recovery and positive health outcomes for individuals with various eating disorders.

Electronic Research Services (eRS): A proposal submission, research compliance and grants management system. These business processes are currently being transitioned into InfoEd, and the application will be retired.

Electronic Institutional Review Board (eIRB): A web-based human subject research compliance system supporting the Institutional Review Board (IRB).

eSirius: A web-based compliance management system for animal research supporting SLU's Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and the Department of Comparative Medicine.

Electronic Institutional Biosafety Committee (eIBC): A web-based radiation and biosafety compliance management system supporting SLU's Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC).

High-Performance Computing (HPC) Cluster: A clustered computer infrastructure used to solve advanced, complex computation problems on large data sets.

REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture): A free turn-key web-based research survey and data management application and infrastructure that provides secure data capture for research studies and the ability to invite survey participants external to SLU.

Inteum: A web-based intellectual property management system for technology transfer operations.

InfoEd: SLU's new research management system for grants and conflict of interest management. This application will replace the previous business processes managed in eRS.

MATLAB: A leading mathematical computing software, with high-level language and interactive environment, used by millions of engineers and scientists worldwide.
