All undergraduate students living in Saint Louis University residence halls are required to have a meal plan each semester through DineSLU. Meal plans are also required for commuters and students living in on-campus apartments who are taking 12 or more credit hours.
If you are a freshman and living in a residence hall, you will be automatically enrolled in the All Access Program. All other students living in the residence halls can choose from the All Access, Block 125 or Block 80. All three of these plans are included in the cost of your residence hall room, but each comes with a different amount of meal swipes or Flex dollars — funds you can use to eat at SLU's retail dining options, such as Qdoba, Starbucks or Panda Express, anytime. SLU's retail dining locations also allow meal exchanges to be used on Monday through Thursday nights from 5 - 10 p.m.
Unused meal swipes expire at the end of the semester. Unused Flex dollars carry over from the fall to the spring semester and expire at the end of the academic year. As the Block 25 program is a voluntary program, those unused meal swipes will carry over from year to year with no expiration.
Meal plans are charged to your student account and preloaded onto your SLU ID, but you can purchase additional Bonus Flex dollars anytime during the semester through the mySLU portal. Residential students will receive an additional 25 percent value with their Bonus Flex purchase, while students living in apartments, commuters, faculty and staff receive a 10 percent bonus.

Changing Your Meal Plan
Meal plan changes may only be made within the first three weeks of each semester.
Meal plan changes can be made in your housing contract through June 30. To change your meal plan starting Aug. 1, log into your mySLU account, select the "Tools" tab, select "Banner Self-Service" and select the "Student" tab. Click on "Meal Plan Change Request.” Your meal plan options will be listed in the drop-down menu. Select your new meal plan.
Add Billiken Bucks and Bonus Flex
Students, parents and guests can add Billiken Bucks and Bonus Flex 24-hours a day using a credit or debit card. You can also check meal plan information,
Flex and Billiken Bucks account balances and view transactions. For assistance with your account or your SLU ID, call 314-977-3471 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
While regular Flex does expire, Bonus Flex and Billiken Bucks can be refunded. Refunds will be credited to your student account and applied to any outstanding balance prior to disbursement. You will receive a check within two weeks of completing a withdrawal form to close your Billiken Bucks or Bonus Flex account, minus any additional promotional percentage that might have applied. Note: Funds that were deposited via a SLU department for an award or incentive will not be refunded.
SLU Meal Plan FAQ
Each swipe is good for an all-you-care-to-eat meal at Grand dining hall. Other popular on-campus dining spots, such as Reinert dining hall, Billiken Club and Grill, Qdoba, Grill Works and Subway, allow you to use meal exchanges from 5 to 10 p.m. on Monday through Thursday. You can use as many swipes as you want in a day, but unused meal swipes expire at the end of each semester.
Flex dollars are used to purchase food at any DineSLU retail location. Unused Flex at the end of the fall semester will carry over to the spring semester. Flex expires at the end of the Spring semester.
If you are running low on Flex and want to add more, add Bonus Flex. Bonus Flex dollars are just like Flex dollars, with three exceptions:
- You buy them in addition to your meal plan.
- They do not expire at the end of the semester.
- They are eligible for promotional matching bonus dollars that can only be used to purchase food.
Students who have a residence hall meal plan will receive a 25 percent bonus, and students who have a commuter meal plan will receive a 10 percent bonus.
Billiken Bucks is a debit account that can be used for purchases at the Instructional
Media Center, campus bookstore, printing, vending machines and on ITS software sales.
It can also be used at all DineSLU locations and at various off-campus vendors.
Billiken Bucks never expire. You may close your account at any time by submitting your request in writing.
All undergraduate students living in campus housing, regardless of their current course load, and any undergraduate commuter student who is classified full-time, must have a meal plan, unless an exemption is made by our staff. This meal plan is charged to your tuition account, preloaded onto your SLU ID and becomes active on move-in day. Exemptions are considered in rare circumstances and must be submitted within the first two weeks of each semester.

Log into your mySLU account, select the "Tools" tab, and click on the "SLU ID eAccounts" icon. Once you are in your account, you can view your account balances, track your purchases, make card deposits and view or update your profile.
