Senior and St. Louis native Jaskiran Singh almost always has a camera in hand. That passion for film and visual communications helped her land a summer internship with National Geographic.
Minor: Film Studies; Visual Communication
Hometown: St. Louis, Missouri
Organizations: Psi Theta Communication Fraternity
I’m a senior studying journalism and media, film studies and visual communications. If you were to catch me on campus, I would either have a camera in my hand, or I would be editing a video on my laptop. I love trying coffee shops around the St. Louis area with my roommates and watching lots of documentaries.
Why I Chose SLU
St. Louis is my hometown, and SLU is a great university in the city I have grown to love. The urban campus sold me on Saint Louis University. During my time here I have met some amazingly supportive friends and professors.
SLU Insider Tip
The business school has great food in the café and incredibly nice women working there. You have to stop by if you can!
Take video production or any class taught by Professor Ringo Jones in film studies. They’re such fun classes that I think any major would enjoy.
Hands-On Experience at SLU
A lot of my classes are hands-on, and SLU’s small class sizes really help in those classes. I have had great opportunities to build my portfolio with the help of my SLU communication professors. My education at SLU helped me land an internship at National Geographic and has provided me with experiences like filming a documentary with some peers in my documentary production class.
What else should you know about me?
I love listening to music and used to play violin and guitar. I’m also on a mission to try every coffee shop in St. Louis. It’s been going great, and it’s a fun way to explore St. Louis with friends.
